Things Toddlers Say

Hi everyone, and happy Tuesday evening! It’s been a busy day at my house and so I’m a little late posting. Hope you’ve had a great start to your week! Here are our funnies!

J, walking into the room when he’s supposed to be napping: I need to tell you something.
Me: Is it the reason you aren’t napping?
J: No, it’s something else than that. *cue lame story*

J, giving me a compliment: Hey guess what. I love you even when you’re dead. *giggle*

J shoes me a map from his bible.
Me: What’s that a map of?
J: Jesus’s world. It’s been raining there for 3 or 4 or 5 days.

EK asking for Nilla Wafers: Can I have those anilla wipers?

EK after playing with D for half an hour: he’s figuring it out! I’m starting to like babies!

D, sitting in a big boy (regular) dining room chair: Don’t fall!

D, eating my butternut squash soup: Iss dewicious!
My new favorite child.

J: Hey guess what! D thinks the floor is sand! And he even thinks that salsa is a pillow!

D, bringing me pretend cake, singing: Happy to you, iss cake!

J: Hey, let’s pretend tooting is pooping and pooping is tooting!
Me: *eyeroll*

J, rushing up to me: Mom! I have a silly emergency!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy rainy Tuesday! At least if you’re in North Carolina. I hope you’re safe and well, wherever you are, after this past few days of craziness. Here’s a little bit of humor to cheer you up!

J: Did you know when we keep scratching our booboos they hurt more?
Me: That sounds right.
J: Yeah, it’s right, ’cause EK told me.
Me: She isn’t always right.

D: I ‘uf you, Joe Joe! I ‘uf you, Joe Joe! I ‘UF YOU JOE JOE!
Me: J, do you hear him frantically telling you he loves you?
J: I love you, too, baby brother.

J, pointing at hexagonal floor tiles in a bathroom: Mom! Look at those pentagons!
Me: Those are actually hexagons, but I’m really impressed!
EK: Stop signs are red ones of those!
Me: Actually, stop signs are octagons. *cue 20 minute discussion about many-sided figures.*

D, every time we put him on the potty and he doesn’t pee: It’s broken!

EK, putting my birthday on her planner: I just upgraded ya, Mom.

D, all day: I wan’ delly jeans! (Jelly beans)

EK explaining fire, tornado and lock down drills: Well, it’s so we’re safe. Like, just so there’s a fire, or a tomato, or if bears or lions come.

EK to her cinnamon roll: I’m coming for ya, cinnamon!

J, after snuggling with Hubby: Um, I put a little too much spit on Daddy’s ear.

J, looking at Hubby’s phone: Who’s that girl-man?
Hubby: …Barry Manilow…?
Me: *dead*

Well, I hope you enjoyed the little conversations, and the series of one-liners! Have a great rest of your week!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! And for many of you, like me, I think a “Happy first day of preschool!” is in order! I hope your Labor Day was relaxing, and that this morning didn’t come too early. Here are a few goodies from the past week. Enjoy!

EK, handing me a note: In case you know, this is for you.
Me: I think you mean, “Just so you know…”

D, all day: I did it!
J, all day: Hey! Look at my butt!
Pretty similar, right?

J got stung by his first bee the other day. His response as he slowed his crying: Its because I was doing the wrong things!
After I assured him it wasn’t his fault, and said: And now my belly hurts! If everything hurts I’ll just be a… hurt man!

EK: You and Daddy are just like Cinderelly. You’ve gotta clean, cook, wash dishes, and dress people all day long!
Me: Are you saying I remind you of a princess?

A sign of too much Octonauts…
EK and J, running through the house: Emergency rescue! Emergency rescue! (Followed by every kind of fish in the sea)

Chopsticks lessons.

EK to J: We’re the weirdest team I’ve ever seen.

EK, pondering nature: Why are ants so FAST?!

D’s two favorite foods: Zucchini (actual zucchini and sometimes mushrooms that are cooked a certain way) and tofu (typically in either curry sauce or in a noodle dish). He calls them “chini” and “toes-fu”. Naturally, yesterday he saw a pan of roasted Brussels sprouts, and said, “Fus-chini! Fus-chini!”

On Labor Day…
EK: Tomorrow, I’m going to my second grade of kindergarten.
Hubby: Second week, babe.
Again this morning…
EK: Am I in second grade now?
Me: No, kindergarten lasts all year.

EK, eating Chickin Minis from Chick-fil-A: Mmm… they have the best food ever.
Me: *silently agreeing*

Well, there you have it! What funny things are your kids saying these days?

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, y’all! I hope your last bit of summer is relaxing, as ours will hopefully be over the next two weeks. We are all done traveling for a while, thank goodness. Here are the week’s funnies!img_3843

EK: When we get inside, do you want me to tell you about the helmet of the armor of God?
J: No, I don’t wear helmets.

D, pointing to the cockatoo: I wan’ toggle cockadoodle!

EK: When I get to kindergarten, I gotta stop doing baby things, do my ABCs (she’s ticking these items off on her fingers as she lists), be nice to my brothers, do what I’m supposed to do… then I’ll be doing the kindergarten thing.
Me: You sure will!

D, about five times in a row, holding his hand out: Too so! Too so! Too so!
Me, finally figuring it out: Too slow! Oh!
He wanted to play the high five game: up high, down low, in the middle, too slow!

Watching Star Wars Episode II, and I’m reading the beginning aloud…
Me: …mysterious Count Dooku…
J: *snickering*
Me: …to help the overwhelmed Jedi…
J: Well that was a lot of words.

EK, trying to tell me about Amidala: I love Queen Mazilla.

EK: I shared my blueberries with J!
J: Yeah! I asked her for some and she thinked about it, and den she said yes!

D runs up in a hat…
J: Looks like pirate D is here.

EK planned Hubby and me a “date” and then asked us to dress appropriately (aka gave us heels and a tie, respectively). Then she took J on that same date.

EK: Can we stay up till bednight?
Me: Do you mean midnight?
J: There’s many scary creatures at the midnight in the darkness… like the uglyfish. And a stinky sock! And like a shrimp!

The other night, D spent five minutes holding up different colors blocks and shouting: “Mooooom! Mooooom! Blue? Mooooom! Mooooom! Geen?” (And so on.)
Then earlier today, he spent 5 minutes sitting still on his tricycle as I tried to read my book, screaming, “Moooooom!” until I looked at him. I’ve come to the conclusion he needs a lot of affirmation right now.

Well, what are you kids saying these days??

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Vacation isn’t stopping my kids from saying hilarious things, so here is a sampling of the things I’ve heard this week! Enjoy!

EK to our babysitter: I’m going to make your hair look exotic!

J: Mama, when I get up, can we do that thing we did the other day?
Me: Yeah, babe. What thing?
J: I don’t remember.

Heard from the back seat…
J: EK, we’re not playing that panties game!

EK at dinner: Did you know that bats use listening and feeling and snelling (no typo) to find their way around ’cause they can’t see?
Everyone: Oh wow! Cool! No way!
EK: Yeah, that’s how I get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Listening, feeling, and snelling.

EK, randomly: Mom, I want to join a bunch of kids. I want to work on my soccers.

EK, randomly mimicking the self-check out: Thank you for shopping at Lowe’s Foods!

D: *crying in the car at 9:00am*
EK: Why don’t you go to sleep, D? You’ll do less crying that way.
Me: He’s not even been awake a full hour, sweetie.

EK, with a bag full of sandy seashells: These are sorry shells for D. Because he wasn’t feeling good.

J, to EK, while brushing their teeth: Don’t just eat it like a lollipop!

There you have it: Things I Couldn’t Make Up If I Tried. What are your kids surprising you with these days?

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope this little humor post finds you well, and enjoying your summer. We are traveling a lot over the next couple of weeks (a short trip and a longer trip) so you might hear a little less from us than normal. Anyway, here are today’s funnies! Enjoy!

Me: Is there anything special you’d like me to pray for?
J: Pray for it to be okay.
Me: What do you mean okay?
J: Okay is not whining or crying or being mad or sad. It’s just okay.
Me: Okay, I can do that.

Eating waffles with syrup…
EK: J, you have to lean over the table, like this. And also what’s important is to not get it on your clothes.

An ode to his cousin…
J: My cousin does a lot of nice things. He hugs and he kisses and he watches tv. He takes a good nap and eats dinner. He hugs and he kisses. Finley is so nice and does all those nice things.

J: Get out of there, you stupid bug!
EK: Don’t say stupid.
J: Well, I said it to the bug.

EK pointing to the store-brand coconut oil: I know where that came from! The grocery store! Because I see the letters for the store!

J: I love all of you so much! After we eat and I’m at home with you guys, I’ll give you all a wild hug!

EK: J, do you want to do manners at chick-a-lay? Like, I can teach you manners like safety because there will be a lot of children there.

J, talking about his blanket: Daddy gave me this when I was firteen years old yestaday.

D’s new words: Cars (like when he means the movies, as in pointing at the tv and saying “wan Cars”), broken (he breaks a lot of stuff, ya know?), his own name (SO CUTE) and ‘chini (because his favorite veggie is zucchini)

Now, tell me: what are your kids saying these days?!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone enjoyed a nice Memorial Day! We spent a few hours at the pool with family, spent some time with friends playing games during the kids’ nap time, and then had more friends over for dinner! All in all it was a nice day, and I hope yours was, too! Here are our funnies for the week – Enjoy!

J, runs up to me with a toy screwdriver: Mom! It’s my work! It’s part of my work I was doing!

EK: Mom, what is that girl called? The one on the G-A-R-L-M-H-K-G? (Attempted robotic voice) “The turn is in one mile away.”
Me: What? I don’t know.
Hubby: …..the GPS?
EK: The one that gives us “one mile away”. What’s her name?
Me: Well, she’s a computer…..

EK and I up a little early one morning: I can’t hear Daddy snoring. Is his door shut?

EK and J taking turns using the bathroom…
J: I like those underwears!
EK: Thanks!
J: I like the girls on them.
EK: Yeah, so many Cinerellas.
I suppose they should start pottying alone.

J: Mom! Did you know that daddy whales are mommy whales?!?!
Me: Well…. I don’t…. Ryannnnn!

J: You know what drinks your blood?
Hubby: What drinks your blood?
J: Grasshoppers.
Hubby: I don’t think so. They eat grass.
J: But EK told me so yesterday!
Hubby: Mosquitos drink your blood.
J: But grasshoppers just hop! They don’t eat grass!
Me: I don’t know anything about bugs.

D’s longest sentence to date: I got in the cold water!

Hubby is eating a salad…
J: Daddy! We’re twins!
Hubby: How?
J: My fork is green and your leaves are green and my fork is green and we are twins!

J, at dinner: Mom when will my rice be cool enough to eat?
Me: I bet when you finish your chicken finger it’ll be cool enough.
J, a minute later: Mom, you were absolutely wrong.
Me: ……….
Hubby: Careful…
J: I finished my chicken and this rice is NOT cool enough to eat.

J, lifting something heavy: I’m even stronger than Jesus!

What are the silly things your kids are saying these days?
