Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! We’re expecting some snow again tomorrow- can you believe it?! The kids are dying to be outside (like yesterday!) but most days it’s a little too chilly to be out for long. Anyway, here are some of our funnies from the week! Enjoy!

J’s latest way of getting out of wearing a jacket: Well, my skin keeps me warm in the weather.

J: Something’s poking me in this hat!
Me: In the front or back? I’ll fix it.
J: Never mind.
Me: Did you fix it?
J: No, I vanished it.

Necie: I didn’t come up here to hear y’all fight, believe it or not.
D, after a pause: Uh, not!

In the middle of the night…
Me: Good night. Go back to sleep.
D: See you tomorrow!

EK: I love that you always are never scared to try anything! I love that about you!
Me: Well thanks!
EK: You even like to try roller coasters!
Me: That’s true! I love roller coasters!
EK: I would only try one if it didn’t have the curly parts to it.

J: I did NOT dream about something delightful. I dreamed about a SHARP TOOTH!

What have your kids said that makes you laugh?!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, y’all! I thought it was spring, and then it snowed yesterday. March in NC, am I right?! Enjoy our funnies, no matter what the weather is!

J: I just fayell (fell)!
Me: I saw! Are you okay?
J: I was looking where I was going and I didn’t do anything I just fayell!
Me: *tries not to laugh as I comfort him*

Proof that D is picking up on his brother’s amazing vocabulary, this happened while I was helping him blow his nose…
D: Ack-chewy, I got more boogers. *blows again*

D: I want moopies!
Me: What?
D, handing me the lid and straw we always use for smoothies: Moopies! Peas? Moopies?

J: Mom! When I sneezed, you didn’t even bless me!

My mother in law let EK sit with her on Sunday at church, and have me this song she wrote during the service. I’m in love.

Hubby was chopping an onion, and D saw it and said: A ordament! (Throwback from Christmas ornaments I suppose.)

D: *falls and cries*
Me: Aww, what happened?!
J: He ran so fast that he fayell.
Hubby: You pushes him down and I saw you do it!
J: Sorryyyyyy!

There you have it – the daily hilarities of my family. What are your kids saying that’s hilarious?!

Things Toddlers Say

It’s Tuesday! You know what that means… more sillies from my kiddos! Enjoy!IMG_0026.JPG

J: …and he was screaming at the top of his head.
EK: It’s lungs.

EK, drinking soup from the bowl: The Chinese way!

J got up several times in one night, and when I asked in the morning why he was up so much he responded: I had some business to do.

It never fails to entertain me when J corrects EK on her pronunciation…
EK, quoting The Jungle Book: Nagheeraaaa!
J: It’s not Nagheera, it’s BAgheera!
(It’s leviOsa, not levioSA!)

One morning…
J and EK, chanting: Bref-tiss! Bref-tiss! Bref-tiss!
Me: First of all, it’s breakfast…

Singing “The Bare Neccessities”…
J: I mean the bare necessities, that’s why a mother’s recipes, I mean the bare necessities of life!
Me: I’m not even going to correct that.

J, trying to overindulge: Mom, all the cupcakes I had was just one.

Me: I don’t know where daddy is.
EK: He’s probably in his storage room according (aka recording) music on his headphones.

J, jumping off a chair: Well, easy as I go!

EK’s favorite game right now is “Would You Rather…?” Here are a few examples:
Would you rather have hair longer than Rapunzel’s or be bald like Gru?
Would you rather have banana ice cream or strawberry chocolate?
Would you rather have French fries or chocolate ice cream?
Would you rather wear stinky socks or clean ones?
Would you rather eat a phone or earrings?
Would you rather eat a shark’s tooth or your hair?
You get the idea. It starts out hilarious and then gets a little tedious.

This happening to D:

IMG_0025.jpegJ was the only one in the room (Hubby was making dinner in the next room) and his story was: He fell on a spatula!

Well, what are your kiddos saying these days? Tell me all the funnies in the comments!

Things Toddlers Say

Heyyyyyyy Tuesday! I hope you like Octonauts as much as my kids do! J told me all about a hurricane recently with pretty accurate information. When I asked where he’d learned it, he told me Octonauts. I suppose there are worse shows.

J with a knowledge bomb: Mom, every tree in the world looks like an alien’s hand.

EK: You know where the Olympics are happening?! The other side of the world!
J: You bamember (remember) when we went to the other side of the world, and we saw China, we saw China, we saw China?
EK: That’s not the whole other side of the world. There’s other cities.
(We’ve never been to China, or the other side of the world.)

EK: Spring is the best year of my life!

D had been whining all day…
Me: Are you a big grump today?
D: No… I’m a baby.

EK: I know an old lady who swallowed… a whole train at one time.
Me: Hmm. That’s not how the rhyme goes!
J: Say more of what that lady swallowed!

J: Did you know that every person in the world in Octonauts has seen a sticky lippet?
Me: Um, yeah…
J: And remember Quasi and the mud skippers?!
Me: I don’t watch Octonauts quite as much as you do…

J, to his friend Emma: Did you know there’s a creature that changes shape?! And it’s called… (pause for effect) the blob?!
E: The blob?!?! (Disbelieving face)

D: Can I watch da movies?
Me: Sure! I like movies.
D: I want to watch da Wall-(pause)-E.

EK: Perhaps spring isn’t coming this week.

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, folks! Enjoy our funnies!

J got in the car after preschool wearing this, and announced: I’m passing it off to you! Of course I wore it home.

J: Whats a sponsor? (We had been talking about Lightning McQueen.)
Me: Someone who gives money so you can do what you like to do, like Lightning used it to race.
J: I wish I had a sponsor.
Me: What would you do with the money?
J: I’d have a job.
Me: I don’t know that you’ve got the idea.

D, holding a tiny figurine of Becky, that crazy seagull in Finding Dory: My duck!
Me: That’s actually not a duck… it’s Becky the seagull!
D: ‘Snot Beck! ‘Sa duck! My duck! MY DUCK!
Me: Okay….

J: Let’s have a cuddle party!
EK: Yeah! Let’s fart!
Me: …….

Me: I love you!
D: I love this car.

J: Ow! My butt!
Me: What about your butt?
J: Aw, it was just a joke.

D: Can I have some razaberries?
Me: Sure! Will you get a bowl?
D: Chyeah. (The word he uses to respond to everything these days.)

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! I hope wherever you are, it’s not quite as cold as it is here… but I guess the groundhog did sentence us with six more weeks of winter, so who are we to be surprised? Here are your weekly funnies!

In the car, behind a garbage truck…
J: What’s that on the back of that truck?
Hubby: A trash compactor.
J: I wish our car had a trash compactor.

D: I wan’ bananassss!
Me: Okay. *peels banana and hands it to him*
*two minutes pass, no bites taken*
Me: *takes a bite*
D: You stealing my bananassss?!

D to my friend: Come on! Mobies and abocados!
Friend: You taking me on a date?!

J, arriving at the park as the rain starts: Uuugghhh. I told you it wasn’t a good day to go to the park.

J: I’ll just take one more bite.
Me: If you want dessert, you need to take about ten more bites.
J: How about 138?!
Me: Sounds perfect!

D’s new misnomers…
Heart=heark
Secret=seekit
Pink=pank

J, talking to a sick EK: Miss Emilie said at chapel dis morning dat God will heal the sickness away!
EK: Did you hear what he told me?!

Things Toddlers Say

I’m so glad it’s Tuesday! I love sharing these little quips and sillies with you. I hope you enjoy them!

J: Can I have a special drink tonight that isn’t sprite?
Hubby: What’s wrong with sprite?
J: Sprite wasn’t working for me.

J, trying to get his buddies to surprise us: Okay, on my count. One, two, threeeee!

J at an Italian restaurant: It’s nice to be in this place. Well, it’s nice to be in the whole world.

J’s new favorite word: defint-ly. (Definitely. And he definitely says it several times in one sentence.)

D, reaching his hand into my pasta: Let me share with you!

Annie (their grandma): Do you want five more M&Ms?
D: Six!
Annie: Six?!
D: Seben!

J, holding up one of his hands toward me: Every single finger on this hand has a cut. I look… damaged.
(Same convo, a little later.)
J: The most what is on me is cuts.
Ek: No, the most what is on you is hair. And pajamas. And dirt.

D, bringing EK’s mittens: I want EK’s thumbs!
Hubby finally explained to me why he might call them that… whenever we put mittens on him, we always tell him to stick out his thumbs!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! In case you’re new here, each Tuesday I compile some of the hilarious or sweet or silly things my kids have said throughout the week, and let you in on it. Enjoy!

D, trying to use a toy screwdriver: I need help!
Necie (my mom): Here… (unscrews it with her fingers)
D: Thass amaaaaaazing!

J, unprompted in a moment of quiet: I can’t believe D is in a big boy bed.
Me: You sound like his parent.

EK making big plans: …and this summer when we’re at the beach with you and G-Daddy and his boat…
Necie: But G-Daddy doesn’t have a boat.
EK: He can just order one.

J, looking at a basketball mascot: His head is… not a regular head.

J writing his name… perfectly… but backwards.

J chatting with EK: Well, this day looks really old.
EK, knowingly: Yeah.

EK telling us about school: I do burping lessons with Rosalie at lunch. She’s the boss of burping.
Me and Hubby: *laughing and cannot function*

J, handing out silverware: EK is a big year old, so she gets a big one.

Things Toddlers Say

Hellooooooo Tuesday! This particular Tuesday marks our first day of school since last Tuesday! Who has two thumbs and is really excited?!?! Me.

D and Hubby had been playing with some uncut lemons.
Hubby: What does a lemon smell like?
D: …
Hubby: …
D: …yellow!

Hubby and I had been explaining to J about how getting sick happens to everyone, and how running a fever is our bodies’ way of fighting off sicknesses. We finished with saying it was good that our bodies know that getting warmer often kills viruses. J responded: It’s good to get sick!

Hubby: What do you want for lunch, EK?
EK: Mexican steak!
Hubby: Well, I guess we can make that happen.
(The result is the picture up there.)

J on pancakes: Mmm… right from the fry pan!

Watching The Empire Strikes Back, first scene with the snow monster…
J and EK: *scared*
D: Puppy!!

J, in the first day of 60 degree weather: I love this day, Mom!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you enjoy the funnies!

EK: He made your soup so fast!
J: No…
EK: Yes he did!
J: No… he made it quickly.

Me: One, two….?
D: …
Me: …
D: …
Me: Three! Four, five, six,
D, interrupting me: Seben!!!!!!!
Me: You got seven but not three?!

D, with a rolling pin inside his shirt: Mama look! I got a sword in my pocket!

Hubby: Here’s some falafel for you!
J: This isn’t waffles!

EK: And guess what?! We got lollipops! J got strawberry and I got watermelon and D got… he got green bean.
Me: I think it’s green apple…

I had asked EK to run a bath, and she came back up shouting: Mom! The light has run out of power in there!

EK referring to hand, foot, mouth: …and we all had footprints.

D about pterodactyls: I need da carrot-dactyl!

A few one-liners this week, eh? What are your kiddos saying these days? Or shall I say “saying improperly” these days?!
