Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! Enjoy our funnies!

Me: Would you like some applesauce?
D: Applesauce is my life!
Me: Quoting Frozen again?

D: I want watermelon!
Me: I don’t have any cut. How about cantaloupe?
D: Yeah! (Proceeds to eat approximately half a cantaloupe, right after lunch.)

D about everything (inanimate objects, that is) he likes: ______ is my best friend ever.

J, seeing a teenage boy riding his bike, obviously without training wheels: That is a really talented boy.
Hubby: Here ya go, D. Your smoothie is ready.
D, running to the stairs: J! EK! Smoothiiiiie!
Me: You’re such a good brother.
D: I’m not brother, I’m D!

D, potty training naked, toots, then looks behind him on the floor, sees a piece of a brown leaf: Mom!! Pick up that toot!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, folks! Here are a few summer funnies for you – enjoy!img_1147

EK, doing a “medical procedure”: What’s your name?
J: Um, *says my dad’s full name*
Me: *laughs and also wonders why he knows my dad’s full name*

Summertime potty training:
Me: Do you need to use the potty?
D: No, I need to use da treeeeeee!
Me: *face palm*

A redundant argument between J and EK, where they both just shout: STOP COPYUING (no typo, lol) ME!

Me after J had gotten hurt: You’re a trooper, babe.
J: I’m a storm trooper!

J, above, looking through the “scopa-tella” (telescope)

D’s name-calling trump card: Toolet face!

Me: If we do some chores and clean our rooms, maybe then we can head to the pool!
EK: Well let’s get this party started!

Brother stuff:
D: You wanna pee on the tree?!
J: Sure, sure, sure! That sounds amazing!

J’s new song: My God made the bushes, and I love God and I love trees and bushes!

What are your kids saying these days? How are they making you laugh?

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday!! It’s raining and dreary here – maybe these funnies will bring a little sunshine!

EK, telling me a story: …and then in a couple whiles….

D, randomly: I got a mushroom head!

EK, playing a game with the boys: Don’t move, but you can breathe and blink.

J, climbing in my lap: Can I have a snuggle me-luggle?

Me: Are you going to use the potty?
D: Yeah! I’m gonna put my BUTT in there!

J: Did you hear what type of toot that was?!
Me: ….what type?
J: Almost like I spit! *makes that sound with his mouth*

J, playing the piano: You know what I’m saying with my music? That I’m a miracle.
Me: *weeps*

D: I wanna go to da oceans.
Me: Me too, bud. Me too.
D: We gotta get our sandals. Dazzat sound good?

D, after he’d been snuggling me and telling me he loved me: I love you again.

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! Last week I was on vacation and allowed myself to NOT EVEN POST ANYTHING. So enjoy a couple of weeks’ worth of Crazy Things My Kids Say.

J: Did you know that sometimes when you potty, you can stand up? And then you face away from the potty and poop out.

J: Home is a better airport.

J, about 20 mins away from home: Did you know we’re so close to DisneyWorld?!

Hubby: We’re only about a 12 hours drive away.
J: I can count to 12!
Hubby: Reeeeeeeal slow.

Seeing the Charlotte skyline…
Me: Do you guys see that big building up ahead?
J: The one that looks like a giant big banana?!

EK: I want to be a baker!
Our friend Marie: Well bakers get up really early, like midnight, and work all the way until morning.
EK: I did not know that so I think I won’t.

EK: Hey! Watch out! I’m going on a big dump!
Me: *laughs hysterically*
Hubby: What?
EK: I’m going on a dump!
(Obvi she means pooping, in case we’ve gotten too G-rated in here)

J: I love you to the moon and back! And all the way around DisneyWorld!!

J, after riding in the car for a few hours: When I try to sit up, my booty hurts.
Me: From sitting on it so long? I’m sorry; we’ll stop soon.
J: I think there’s a swordfish back there, poking it.

Too much Disney movie watching…
Me: You’re trying my patience.
J: Like Mowgli is trying Sher-khan’s patience?

Me: You disobeyed me.
J: Like Simba disobeyed Mufasa?

Well, what are your kids saying these days? Let me hear the sillies!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! I know it’s Tuesday evening, but it’s still Tuesday! Here are the funnies our kids have been giggling about this week – leave a comment and let me know what silly stuff your kids say!

J: Did you know I taught myself that bees make honey? I taught myself that!

EK, pretending: Do you want the eggs and steak or pancakes?
Me: Hmm… steak and eggs!
EK: The $1 or $100?
Me: I’ll spring for the $100!
EK: But that’s really expensive!
Me: But we’re pretending, right?

D, when he first woke up: I want to sit wif my blanket and watch Wall•e and Cars and Star Wars!
Me: I’ve taught you the perfect day.

J, carefully bringing me my half-full mug of tea: It’ll be a ‘saster (disaster) if I go fast!

J: When my two birthday comes, can I have the party at a Christmas gelato place?
(His birthday is at the end of December and he will be 5, just fyi.)

Hubby hands a milkshake to J. Wait a beat.
J: Uh, Mister! This milkshake is great!

J, randomly: I feel so ingenious!

D, wandering around the house: Where is J? I lost him!

D, handing me a belt: Hey! You want dis type of thing?

J, stretching his hand up: I’m just reaching for Jesus.

Talking about winking…
J: Did you know that pirates look like they’re w bling forever?! Because of their eye patch?!

Me: That was a big hiccup!
J: That wasn’t a hiccup- it was a burp!
Me: Was it a hiccup and a burp combined?!
J: No, it was a hiccup and a burp all mixed up together!
Me: Oh, okay.

Don’t forget to share what hilarious things your kids say!!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, y’all! I thought it was spring, and then it snowed yesterday. March in NC, am I right?! Enjoy our funnies, no matter what the weather is!

J: I just fayell (fell)!
Me: I saw! Are you okay?
J: I was looking where I was going and I didn’t do anything I just fayell!
Me: *tries not to laugh as I comfort him*

Proof that D is picking up on his brother’s amazing vocabulary, this happened while I was helping him blow his nose…
D: Ack-chewy, I got more boogers. *blows again*

D: I want moopies!
Me: What?
D, handing me the lid and straw we always use for smoothies: Moopies! Peas? Moopies?

J: Mom! When I sneezed, you didn’t even bless me!

My mother in law let EK sit with her on Sunday at church, and have me this song she wrote during the service. I’m in love.

Hubby was chopping an onion, and D saw it and said: A ordament! (Throwback from Christmas ornaments I suppose.)

D: *falls and cries*
Me: Aww, what happened?!
J: He ran so fast that he fayell.
Hubby: You pushes him down and I saw you do it!
J: Sorryyyyyy!

There you have it – the daily hilarities of my family. What are your kids saying that’s hilarious?!

Things Toddlers Say

It’s Tuesday! You know what that means… more sillies from my kiddos! Enjoy!IMG_0026.JPG

J: …and he was screaming at the top of his head.
EK: It’s lungs.

EK, drinking soup from the bowl: The Chinese way!

J got up several times in one night, and when I asked in the morning why he was up so much he responded: I had some business to do.

It never fails to entertain me when J corrects EK on her pronunciation…
EK, quoting The Jungle Book: Nagheeraaaa!
J: It’s not Nagheera, it’s BAgheera!
(It’s leviOsa, not levioSA!)

One morning…
J and EK, chanting: Bref-tiss! Bref-tiss! Bref-tiss!
Me: First of all, it’s breakfast…

Singing “The Bare Neccessities”…
J: I mean the bare necessities, that’s why a mother’s recipes, I mean the bare necessities of life!
Me: I’m not even going to correct that.

J, trying to overindulge: Mom, all the cupcakes I had was just one.

Me: I don’t know where daddy is.
EK: He’s probably in his storage room according (aka recording) music on his headphones.

J, jumping off a chair: Well, easy as I go!

EK’s favorite game right now is “Would You Rather…?” Here are a few examples:
Would you rather have hair longer than Rapunzel’s or be bald like Gru?
Would you rather have banana ice cream or strawberry chocolate?
Would you rather have French fries or chocolate ice cream?
Would you rather wear stinky socks or clean ones?
Would you rather eat a phone or earrings?
Would you rather eat a shark’s tooth or your hair?
You get the idea. It starts out hilarious and then gets a little tedious.

This happening to D:

IMG_0025.jpegJ was the only one in the room (Hubby was making dinner in the next room) and his story was: He fell on a spatula!

Well, what are your kiddos saying these days? Tell me all the funnies in the comments!

Currently – February!

Hi there! The first Wednesday of each month, I join a link party called Currently to share what’s going on in my little corner of the world. So, without further ado, I’m sharing, along with Anne in Residence and many, many others, what I’m up to currently!img_0358

Finishing || book after book! I’m so proud of myself for actually keeping up with it. Now, I’m five episodes behind on This Is Us, but I’m keeping up with my reading! I just finished Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere and Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey. I enjoyed them both immensely!

Subscribing || to a couple of new podcasts. I’m REALLY enjoying Emily P. Freeman’s The Next Right Thing and a local podcast here, called Pictures and Pages on the Everyday Exiles Podcast Network. You may have seen some of my writing there on Everyday Exiles’ blog, and I’m a contributor on two of their other podcasts, but as a movie lover AND a book lover, Pictures and Pages is right up my alley!

Wishlisting || some cold weather running gear. I just ordered a base layer shirt (32 degrees brand – anyone know it? Like it? Hate it?) and a second Buff (I use it in the summer for sweat control and the winter to keep my ears warm, so I figured a second one just means I have to run them through the wash less often) to see if that’ll be enough for the last month of cold. I don’t run outside if it’s below 38 degrees or so (with a few exceptions, like lots of sunshine or extreme cabin fever) so I truly don’t need layers and layers of warmth… just something to keep in the heat I’m creating without making me burn up and die. (Runners, y’all catch my drift?)

Watching || not much TV, but if I’m watching at all, I’m cuddling with the hubs to Battlestar Galactica (the newer one) or I’m binging/catching up on This Is Us. I can only handle so many tears at one time. BUT! Can we all just agree that New Girl needs to start back up?!

Hearting || my boys playing so well together. They don’t, by any means, always enjoy each other. Sometimes they fight or argue or hurt each other on purpose (because boys). But Hubby snapped this picture of them the other day and sent it to me, and I almost had a cuteness-induced stroke.

They are such good buddies, aged 4 and 2.5, and I hope it sticks! Does anyone else have sons that are also good playmates and friends?!

Link up or comment and tell me what’s going on in your life currently!!

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Does it feel like fall where you are? NC had some serious rain yesterday, but the rest of this week will make up for it! Here are the funnies for the week!

EK, putting a play blood pressure cuff on my arm: Oh no! You’re 29/61 miles strong!

J, right after he woke up: I can’t walk. I can’t breathe. I can’t even walk!
Spoiler: He was both walking and breathing at the time.

D: I want a I love!
Me: What?
D: I want a I love!
Me: Oh. An olive.

Friend: Do you know when your birthday is?
J: Some days it’s after Christmas.

EK was trying to spell out aloud a letter she wrote me (with help) by saying the letters from each word all in a row, with no pauses. She got through a sentence or so (that I managed to follow, surprisingly) and then J shut her down: Okay, that’s all the letters you have to say.

J: You guys are special to me. And we’re special to God.
Everyone: Aww!

EK sneezed and had some snot come out. J responded with: Well, that was a disaster.

Me: Can you blow them a kiss?
D, blowing a kiss with the hand no holding his cup: Mmmmmah! (Pause) Wait! Other hand! Mmmmmah!

EK on the policy about library books at school: Two, if you buy three, you can’t bring the fifth one home.

What are your kids saying these days?

Things Toddlers Say

Happy Tuesday! Summer is almost here! We are preparing for warm weather and sunshine at our house – how about you? Hope the funnies find you well and not too busy as school ends… Enjoy!

First thing in the morning…
D: Hi!
Hubby: Hi!
D: I poop!
Hubby: You sure did…

J: Look at my robots!
Me: How many eyes do your robots have?
J: This ones got a hundred and this one has two!

EK, giving the above plate of food to me: I know that looks like a regular egg, but it’s actually an Australia egg.

EK: ACHOO!
Me: Who sneezed?
EK: It was just a tree outside.
Me: A tree sneezed?
EK: Yeah! How magical is that?!

J: I can’t reach!
Me: Be there in one second!
J: Okay, I’ll count to one. Five, four, three, two, one!

Overheard from the back of the car…
J: We can’t see Jesus because he’s hiding in our hearts.

EK, running up to me, crying: Mom! I falled while we were playing risbeef!
She meant frisbee. And I was trying so hard not to laugh at her pain.

EK got in our bed at 3:00am and after several minutes of no one sleeping…
Me: It’s time to go back and get in your own bed.
EK: Will you carry me?
Me: *picks her up and heads for the stairs*
EK: I just couldn’t sleep because you and Daddy kept moving your legs around.
Me: You know that we didn’t ask you to get in our bed, right?

EK: Ladies and gentlemen! The dangerous volcano is interrupting five minutes! Please stay away so you do not get hurt! Five, four, three, two, one!

J: I found a microbot (from Big Hero 6) on EK’s purse!
